Side remark: It does not help to post problems that have nothing to do with DDNS under a tittle of 'DDNS not working". To test if DDNS is working you can type in a terminal "nslookup xxx.synology.me". If that returns your IP adres, DDNS is working, period!

My Synology NAS is connected directly to my SH3. I can connect to it internally by its internal IP address etc. - but if I try to connect to it by its DDNS name it has a good think but then times out. It's the same from any device on the LAN. So if I try to connect from my phone when connected to The servers of the DDNS service provider are working. The Synology NAS is able to connect to the Internet. DDNS only works in the network environment where no proxy server is required. You can only enter one hostname for each DDNS provider. There is no port forwarding involved with DDNS, it's purely a service to translate your dynamic IP into a static address. Your address to access your synology unit is always going to be mybox.synology.me but the IP behind that could change whenever, this is what the service does. Then, you have various ports open for certain services. But of course it is not really valid to conclude from the web-service at synology detecting the availability of a DS to the DS itself recognizing a new IP and to update the DDNS record accordingly. Unfortunately i do not have a DNS Server setup within that network to check the DNS lookups for the ip-check servers.

Synology DSM 5.1 now has a built-in DNS-O-Matic DDNS connector. I created a no-ip.com account, for my public ip address (see pic_noip.jpg) I created a DNS-O-Matic account, with only the no-ip service ; i'll add OpenDNS later. (see pic_dnsomatic.png) From DSM 5.1, I'm able to directly use no-ip.com as a DDNS service (see pic_synology_noip_OK.png)
