Others point out that multithread tests such as those used by Ookla (Speedtest.net and branded by many ISPs) don’t represent real-world network traffic as well as single-thread tests. This speed test checks the speed between your smartphone, tablet, computer, or other device and the internet. You can run the test through a cellular (mobile) network, a wired broadband connection, or your home Wi-Fi. One of the two available ISPs in my area prioritizes speedtest.net traffic by a huge margin. Most other HTTP/S traffic bursts at 60-150 (package dependant) then settles to a cozy 15Mbps. Also, we need to use a VPN to avoid torrent and voip (internet phone) traffic pushed to 1.5Mbps. My iPhone 6+ when connected to our 5 Ghz AC signal will max out our 100 mbps connection, same as my desktop on cat 6 (using speedtest.net). We are about to get gigabit internet so I'm very curious to see what AC wireless can really do since theoretical max is 1.3 gbps.

Running the speedtest.net test in a web browser shows download speeds of 240MB and pings of 33ms or so. Pinging speedtest.net from a Windows 10 command line shows pings of 26ms. The Windows 10 speedtest.net has been uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and the problem persists.
